Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Lemon Filling

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

For the Lemon Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Mix well, then gradually add the flour to form a dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • For the filling, mix softened butter, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling over, and roll it up tightly. Cut into rolls and place in a baking pan.
  • Cover the rolls and let them rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool before glazing.
  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled rolls.

Notes

For extra flavor, add more lemon zest to the filling or glaze.
