For the Au Jus
2cupslow-sodium beef broth
2teaspoonsWorcestershire sauce
1teaspoonsoy sauce
1clovegarlic, minced
1sprigfresh thyme
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Assemble the sandwiches by layering roast beef, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese between two slices of French bread. Spread butter on the outer sides of the bread.
Grill the sandwiches in the skillet until the bread is golden and the cheese melts, about 3-4 minutes per side.
In a saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve the sandwiches with the au jus for dipping.
Notes
You can add additional seasonings to the au jus for more flavor.
