Ingredients
  

For the Burger

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • ½ small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 large egg or 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal + 3 tablespoon water for vegan option
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped (optional)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

For Serving

Toppings

  • lettuce as desired
  • tomato as desired
  • avocado as desired
  • cheese as desired

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, mash the black beans until mostly smooth.
  • Add breadcrumbs, minced onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, egg (or flaxseed mix), cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into patties.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side until heated through and slightly crispy.
  • Serve on burger buns with your choice of toppings.
