Ingredients
  

For the Bisque

  • 1 cup Crab meat Fresh lump crab meat is best.
  • 1 cup Shrimp Peeled and deveined.
  • 2 tablespoon Butter For sautéing.
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil For cooking aromatics.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped.
  • 1 stalk Celery Chopped.
  • 1 medium Carrot Chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste Adds sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Flour Used to thicken.
  • 4 cups Seafood or chicken broth Provides liquid base.
  • 1 cup Heavy cream For creamy texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning Enhances flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Adds smokiness.
  • 1 leaf Bay leaf Infuses aroma.
  • to taste Salt Essential for seasoning.
  • to taste Pepper Essential for seasoning.

For Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley or chives For garnish.
  • 2 wedges Lemon Optional for serving.

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and carrot. Sauté until softened.
  • Add the garlic and tomato paste. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.
  • Add the broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes.
  • Add the shrimp, crab meat, heavy cream, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, and bay leaf. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
  • Serve hot, garnished with parsley or chives and lemon wedges, if desired.

Notes

You can use canned or imitation crab if fresh crab is not available.
