Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), thinly sliced slice against the grain

For the Vegetables

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil divided (plus more as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 count bell peppers (green and red), thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning optional
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt plus more to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Sandwich

  • 6–8 slices provolone (or white American)
  • 4 count hoagie rolls, split lightly toasted optional

Optional Spreads

  • garlic-herb mayo optional spread
  • Dijon optional spread
  • a pat of butter optional spread

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned and fully cooked.
  • Add the butter, onions, bell peppers, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are soft.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Place cheese on top and cover until melted.
  • Serve the mixture in hoagie rolls. Add optional spreads if desired.

Notes

You can adjust the seasoning and toppings to your taste. Serve with your choice of sides.
