Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped pecans. Mix well and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add light brown sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined and smooth. Remove from heat.
In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in boiling water until just combined.
Spread the apple mixture in a baking dish. Pour the caramel sauce over the apples. Top with the flour mixture.
Mix additional sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the topping.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm with ice cream for a delightful dessert.
