Ingredients
  

For the Apples

  • 2 cups apples peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg optional, omit if it’s a spice you don’t like

For the Cobbler Mixture

  • 1 and ½ cups self-rising flour read post for substitution
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 and ½ cups hot water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and layer in a baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Pour the cobbler mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar and hot water. Stir until dissolved and pour over the cobbler.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until the cobbler is golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for extra flavor.
